After Hours Of Protests Chicago Police Releases Video Which Shows ‘Unarmed Black Man’ Draw Gun On Cops

The medical examiner’s office on Sunday identified the man who was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer Saturday evening, and police released body camera footage of the shooting.

Harith Augustus, 37, of the 7000 block of South Merrill Avenue in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, was pronounced dead at Jackson Park Hospital at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement from the medical examiner’s office.

After hours of tense protests, Chicago PD has released a bodycam video on Sunday of the fatal officer-involved shooting of Harith Augustus.

Augustus was shot during a confrontation with officers about 5:30 p.m. at 2098 E. 71st St. in the South Shore neighborhood, near where he worked at a barbershop, according to friend and co-worker Antoine Howell, 42.

In the police video, two officers approach the suspect, who appears to be wearing a holster, as he stands by another officer. As one officer grabs for the suspect’s wrist, the suspect pulls away and runs. The video, which has all faces blurred and no audio, pauses on a shot of what appears to be a gun on the suspect’s hip. The shooting of the suspect is not shown in the video.

Superintendent Eddie Johnson announced Sunday that Augustus had a Firearm Owners Identification card, but not a concealed carry permit.

Supt. Johnson added that the officer who fatally shot Augustus is a male officer, contradicting “witness” reports of a white female officer being the shooter.

Almost immediately following the shooting on Saturday, a large crowd of protesters formed and started threatening to shoot the police.
and protesters punched officers back.
The situation just severely escalated when Chicago Police officers moved their line forward. Officers hit multiple protestors with batons.

As of the time of this writing, another protest is still scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday, despite video showing Augustus being killed while trying to murder police officers.

You might just as well do away with police in Chicago, it’s a lost cause.

The blacks cannot and will not accept the fact that when a black is shot and killed by police, it is most often the result of the black person refusing orders from the police, attempting to inflict injury or harm on the officers or trying to get away from the officers. The blacks seem to think they are exempt from the laws that everyone else obeys. That is called “Black Privilege” and is the result of 8 years under the Racist In Chief, Barack Obama.

Black or white or any other color, if you follow orders from the police and do not act aggressive, if you keep both your hands in clear view, if you do not try and run away, if you do not yell at the police and if you do not act like a crazy, dangerous person, you are not likely to be shot.
