BREAKING NEWS! Jackson MS Locked Down After Student Shoots Self! (Video)

A school official in Ohio says a middle school student apparently shot himself after bringing a gun to school.

Police say Jackson Middle School, near Massillon, is on lockdown Tuesday and that the students and staff are safe.

The school official tells The Independent newspaper that the student is being treated at a hospital.

Streets near the middle school are lined with parked cars as hundreds of people, many of them parents of students, gather outside to try to get information and pick up children.

“What a way to start your day,” one dad said as he walked toward the school trying to get information.

Authorities and school officials haven’t released any other details about the shooting.

Massillon is located about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Cleveland.

An early report indicated the incident took place in a restroom at the school. The student was taken to a hospital for treatment. The condition of the student is unknown.

Jackson Township Police are directing people away from the school. Parents will be given information how to pick up their parents from the school.

All entrances to Jackson Memorial Middle School are blocked and the school is on lockdown. Sauder Elementary is closed. Jackson police the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Stark County Sheriff’s Office are at the scene.
